Cheney Cardinals (Cheney, KS) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Independent Panthers (Wichita, KS), 72-62 in a league bout.

With the victory, Cheney upgrades its record to 13-2 on the campaign. The Cardinals travel to Belle Plaine (Belle Plaine, KS) to play the Dragons in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Dragons come into the bout with a record of 5-11. Belle Plaine won 60-51 in their recent non-league bout against Udall (Udall, KS)

Next up, the Panthers play the Garden Plain Owls (Garden Plain, KS) in a Central Plains bout, on Tuesday, February 6. Independent will attempt to upgrade on its 10-5 season record. The Owls come into the bout with a 4-10 record after their 39-34 non-league loss to Conway Springs (Conway Springs, KS).
