February 6, 2025: Mt. Sterling, IL 62353 Brown County Hornets (Mt. Sterling, IL) boosters left the game satisfied Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans (Concord, IL), 59-29 in a league match.
With the victory, Brown County upgrades its record to 20-7 on the year. The Hornets host West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] (Winchester, IL) to face the Cougars in a Western Illinois Valley match on Friday, February 7. The Cougars enter the match with a record of 13-13. West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] won 51-47 in their recent league match against Calhoun/Brussels (Hardin, IL)
The Trojans now sport a 13-11 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to North Greene for a Western Illinois Valley match on Monday, February 10. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia will face a Spartans squad coming off a 55-22 non-league loss to Litchfield (Litchfield, IL). The Spartans record now stands at 5-21.
