Michigan High School Basketball - Johnston nudges Mellen
February 7, 2022: Bessemer, MI 49911 Johnston Speedboys (Bessemer, MI) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI), 45-43 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Johnston upgrades its record to 6-8 on the season. The Speedboys travel to Watersmeet (Watersmeet, MI) to clash with the Nimrods in a Copper Mountain - Porcupine bout on Friday, February 11. The Nimrods go into the bout with a record of 3-7. Watersmeet lost 52-49 in their recent league bout against Wright (Ironwood, MI)
Next up, the Granite Diggers clash with the Hurley Northstars (Hurley, WI) in a Indianhead bout, on Tuesday, February 8. Mellen will attempt to upgrade on its 5-12 season record. The Northstars go into the bout with a 15-2 record after their 73-36 league win over Lac Courte Oreilles (Hayward, WI).
