In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Newman Greenies basketball team scored a close 58-54 triumph over the McDonogh 35 Roneagles.

The Greenies (17-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Young Audiences (Gretna, LA). The Yacs come into the non-league challenge with a 5-13 record.

In their next game, the Roneagles encounter the Frederick A. Douglass Bobcats (New Orleans, LA) in a 4A District 10 challenge, on Monday, February 10. McDonogh 35 will attempt to improve on its 23-10 season record.
