North Carolina High School Basketball - Richlands can't hold off West Carteret

February 7, 2025: Richlands, NC 28574

West Carteret Patriots (Morehead City, NC) supporters left the game happy Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Richlands Wildcats (Richlands, NC), 57-56 in a league match.

With the victory, West Carteret advances its record to 11-5 on the year. The Patriots host Kinston (Kinston, NC) to face the Vikings in a non-league match on Monday, February 10. The Vikings enter the match with a record of 16-4. Kinston lost 79-56 in their recent non-league match against New Hanover (Wilmington, NC)

The Wildcats now own a 4-15 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Croatan for a 3A Coastal match on Tuesday, February 11. Richlands will face a Cougars squad coming off a 84-76 league win over White Oak (Jacksonville, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 14-5.
