In Friday's league contest, the host Avery County Vikings basketball team scored a big 66-27 triumph over the Owen Warhorses.

The Vikings (14-6) will now prepare for their contest against NCSSM: Morganton (Morganton, NC). The Dragons go into the 1A/2A Western Highlands contest with a 0-15 record. In their last contest, NCSSM: Morganton was trounced by Draughn (Valdese, NC), 66-2, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Warhorses battle the Madison Patriots (Marshall, NC) in a 1A/2A Western Highlands contest, on Tuesday, February 11. Owen will attempt to better on its 3-19 season record. The Patriots go into the contest with a 8-15 record after their 60-31 league loss to Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC).
