The crowd at Monday's non-league match between the Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) and the visiting New Bern Bears (New Bern, NC), saw Laney's softball squad achieve victory over New Bern by a count of 12-2.

The Buccaneers now sport a 4-0 record. They take the field next when they host North Brunswick for a Mideastern 3A/4A match on Tuesday, March 15. Laney will face a Scorpions squad coming off a 13-4 non-league loss to East Columbus (Lake Waccamaw, NC). The Scorpions record now stands at 1-3.

With the loss, New Bern falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Bears host Havelock (Havelock, NC) to face the Rams in a Big East 3A/4A match on Tuesday, March 15. The Rams enter the match with a record of 3-3. Havelock lost 10-3 in their recent non-league match against Pamlico County (Bayboro, NC)
