Ponchatoula Green Wave (Ponchatoula, LA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host French Settlement Lions (French Settlement, LA), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Green Wave now own a 14-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Northshore for a 5A District 6 challenge on Tuesday, March 19. Ponchatoula will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 12-2 league loss to Mandeville (Mandeville, LA). The Panthers record now stands at 6-9.

With the loss, French Settlement falls to 6-5 on the campaign. The Lions host St. Thomas Aquinas (Hammond, LA) to battle the Falcons in a 2A District 7 challenge on Tuesday, March 19. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 3-5. St. Thomas Aquinas won 21-8 in their recent non-league challenge against Salmen (Slidell, LA)
