Mississippi High School Softball - Newton County bounces Leake Central
March 20, 2025: Carthage, MS 39051 The crowd at Thursday's league bout between the Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS) and the host Leake Central Gators (Carthage, MS), observed Newton County's softball team notch a victory over Leake Central by a final score of 19-0.
The Cougars (10-5) will now prepare for their bout against Greene County (Leakesville, MS). The Wildcats go into the non-league bout with a 9-5 record. In their last bout, Greene County gained a win over Bay (Bay St. Louis, MS), 17-1, in a league bout.
In their next game, the Gators battle the Winona Tigers (Winona, MS) in a non-league bout, on Monday, March 24. Leake Central will attempt to better on its 0-9 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 6-9 record after their 17-5 non-league loss to Vardaman (Vardaman, MS).
