March 24, 2023: Columbia, SC 29209 Cardinal Newman Cardinals (Columbia, SC) fans were thrilled Friday as they observed their soccer team knock off the host Hammond Skyhawks (Columbia, SC), 2-0 in a league challenge.
Next, the Cardinals face the Ben Lippen Falcons (Columbia, SC) in a SCISA AAAA Region I challenge, on Tuesday, March 28. Cardinal Newman will attempt to better on its 14-2 season record. The Falcons enter the challenge with a 5-4 record after their 2-0 league win over Wilson Hall (Sumter, SC).
The Skyhawks now have a 1-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Heathwood Hall Episcopal for a SCISA AAAA Region I challenge on Tuesday, March 28. Hammond will face a Highlanders team coming off a 5-0 non-league loss to A.C. Flora (Columbia, SC). The Highlanders record now stands at 5-2.
