March 25, 2023: Floydada, TX 79235 The crowd at Saturday's league match between the Floydada Whirlwinds (Floydada, TX) and the visiting Sundown Roughnecks (Sundown, TX), saw Floydada's softball squad nip Sundown by a count of 16-10.
The Whirlwinds now sport a 17-4 record. They take the field next when they host Sudan for a 2A Region I District 3 match on Tuesday, March 28. Floydada will face a Hornets squad coming off a 10-4 league win over New Deal (New Deal, TX). The Hornets record now stands at 6-11.
With the loss, Sundown falls to 9-3 on the campaign. The Roughnecks host Ralls (Ralls, TX) to face the Jackrabbits in a 2A Region I District 3 match on Tuesday, March 28. The Jackrabbits enter the match with a record of 15-4. Ralls won 19-4 in their recent league match against Hale Center (Hale Center, TX)
