The Alexander Central Cougars the host South Caldwell Spartans softball squad by a count of 5-3 in Tuesday's league battle.

The Cougars (8-3) will now prepare for their battle against Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Panthers go into the Northwestern 3A/4A battle with a 6-4 record. In their last battle, Hibriten nudged St. Stephens (Hickory, NC), 5-4, in a non-league battle.
