Spectators at Wednesday's league match between the Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC) and the visiting Thomas Jefferson Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC), witnessed Shelby's softball squad tip Thomas Jefferson by a count of 5-4.

The Golden Lions now sport a 5-7 record. They play next when they host South Point for a non-league match on Monday, April 3. Shelby will meet a Red Raiders squad coming off a 17-4 league win over Ashbrook (Gastonia, NC). The Red Raiders record now stands at 2-8.

With the loss, Thomas Jefferson moves to 0-8 on the season. The Gryphons travel to Draughn (Valdese, NC) to meet the Wildcats in a non-league match on Thursday, March 30. The Wildcats go into the match with a record of 9-1. Draughn won 16-5 in their recent league match against Avery County (Newland, NC)
