The Independence Patriots softball team scored 20 runs and held the host Mallard Creek Mavericks to 4 in the Patriots non-league win on Monday.

The Patriots now possess a 3-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Charlotte Catholic for a Southwestern 4A battle on Friday, March 7. Independence will confront a Cougars team coming off a 17-1 league loss to Providence (Charlotte, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 2-1.

With the loss, Mallard Creek moves to 1-3 on the season. The Mavericks travel to South Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC) to confront the Sabres in a non-league battle on Friday, March 7. The Sabres come into the battle with a record of 2-2.
