The Merced Bears triumphed over the host El Capitan Gauchos softball squad by a count of 7-0 in Saturday's non-league challenge.

Next, the Bears play the Ripon Indians (Ripon, CA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, March 7. Merced will attempt to upgrade on its 4-1 season record. The Indians enter the challenge with a 4-2 record after their 9-8 non-league win over Buhach Colony (Atwater, CA).

With the loss, El Capitan moves to 7-1 on the season. The Gauchos travel to Grant (Sacramento, CA) to confront the Pacers in a non-league battle on Wednesday, March 11.
