Columbus Cardinals (Columbus, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Rice Consolidated Raiders (Altair, TX), 17-2 in a league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 7-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Edna for a 3A Region IV District 28 challenge on Saturday, March 12. Columbus will face a Cowboys squad coming off a 17-2 league win over Palacios (Palacios, TX). The Cowboys record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Rice Consolidated falls to 2-13 on the campaign. The Raiders host Industrial (Vanderbilt, TX) to face the Cobras in a 3A Region IV District 28 challenge on Friday, March 11. The Cobras enter the challenge with a record of 9-10. Industrial lost 10-6 in their recent league challenge against Hallettsville (Hallettsville, TX)
