Indiana High School Softball - Connersville bounces Shelbyville
April 14, 2022: Connersville, IN 47331 Spectators at Thursday's non-league match between the Connersville Spartans (Connersville, IN) and the visiting Shelbyville Golden Bears (Shelbyville, IN), witnessed Connersville's softball squad tip Shelbyville by a count of 13-6.
The Spartans now sport a 3-0 record. They play next when they travel to Mt. Vernon for a non-league match on Saturday, April 16. Connersville will face a Marauders squad coming off a 24-14 non-league loss to Center Grove (Greenwood, IN). The Marauders record now stands at 0-1.
With the loss, Shelbyville moves to 0-3 on the season. The Golden bears travel to Franklin County (Brookville, IN) to encounter the Wildcats in a non-league test on Friday, April 22. The Wildcats enter the test with a record of 5-0.
Game Summary
Connersville Junior Varsity Lady Spartans defeated Shelbyville 13-6 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at six with Connersville batting in the bottom of the sixth when Paige Bennett singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The Golden Bears scored four runs in the fourth inning, but the Lady Spartans still managed to pull out the victory.
Jade Greene led the Connersville to victory on the rubber. Greene allowed 11 hits and six runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking zero.
The Lady Spartans tallied 14 hits on the day. Macy McHenry, Greene, Bennett, and Josey Selby all collected multiple hits. Selby went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Connersville.
