Northumberland Indians (Heathsville, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Middlesex Chargers (Saluda, VA), 8-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Indians now sport a 3-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mathews for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 5. Northumberland will face a Blue Devils squad coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to St. Margaret's (Tappahannock, VA). The Blue Devils record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Middlesex falls to 1-4 on the campaign. The Chargers host West Point (West Point, VA) to face the Pointers in a Tidewater challenge on Tuesday, April 12. The Pointers enter the challenge with a record of 0-5.
