The crowd at Thursday's league bout between the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers (Mt. Vernon, MO) and the visiting Lamar Tigers (Lamar, MO), observed Mt. Vernon's softball team get by Lamar by a tally of 8-5.

The Mountaineers (12-2) will now prepare for their bout against Diamond (Diamond, MO). The Wildcats go into the Class 2 District 6 bout with a 7-6 record. In their last bout, Diamond was routed by Skyline (Urbana, MO), 7-1, in a non-league contest.
