Portage Indians (Portage, IN) backers left the game pleased Saturday as they saw their softball squad thwart the host Hammond Morton Governors (Hammond, IN), 15-2 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Portage upgrades its record to 5-7 on the year. The Indians host Merrillville (Merrillville, IN) to play the Pirates in a Duneland game on Tuesday, April 23. The Pirates enter the game with a record of 0-11. Merrillville lost 24-4 in their recent non-league game against Hobart (Hobart, IN)

The Governors now own a 4-5 record. They play next when they host Hammond Central for a game on Monday, April 22. Hammond Morton will play a Wolves squad coming off a 9-8 league win over East Chicago Central (East Chicago, IN). The Wolves record now stands at 3-3.
