The Mitchell Mountaineers triumphed over the visiting Avery County Vikings softball squad by a count of 10-5 in Monday's league challenge.

Next, the Mountaineers meet the Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) in a Western Highlands 2A/3A challenge, on Tuesday, April 28. Mitchell will attempt to upgrade on its 13-6 season record. The Vikings enter the challenge with a 3-15 record after their 12-10 league loss to Polk County (Columbus, NC).
