The Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) baseball trounced the host Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), 9-2 in Tuesday's league challenge.

The Mountaineers now own a 11-13 record.

With the defeat, Avery County drops to 7-13 on the year. The Vikings travel to Asheville Christian Academy (Swannanoa, NC) to clash with the Lions in a non-league challenge on Friday, May 1. The Lions go into the challenge with a record of 4-17. Asheville Christian Academy won 17-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Hickory Christian Academy (Hickory, NC)
