Iowa High School Soccer - Mt. Vernon nudges Benton
May 13, 2025: Van Horne, IA 52346 Fans at Tuesday's non-league battle between the Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA) and the host Benton Bobcats (Van Horne, IA), saw Mt. Vernon's soccer squad hold off Benton by a count of 1-0.
The Mustangs (10-6) will now prepare for their battle against Regina (Iowa City, IA). The Regals enter the non-league battle with a 9-6 record. In their last battle, Regina tipped West Branch (West Branch, IA), 5-1, in a league battle.
Next up, the Bobcats battle the Grundy Center Spartans (Grundy Center, IA) in a non-league battle, on Friday, May 16. Benton will attempt to upgrade on its 6-12 season record. The Spartans enter the battle with a 2-10 record after their 5-1 non-league loss to Union (La Porte City, IA).
