Indiana High School Softball - Bremen holds off Lakeland
May 14, 2022: Bremen, IN 46506 The Bremen Lions the visiting Lakeland Lakers softball squad by a final score of 8-6 in Saturday's non-league battle.
The Lions (11-6) will now prepare for their battle against South Bend Adams (South Bend, IN). The Eagles go into the Northern Indiana battle with a 14-5 record. In their last battle, South Bend Adams held off South Bend Washington (South Bend, IN), 12-0, in a league battle.
The Lakers now possess a 7-13 record. They play next when they travel to Culver Academies for a non-league battle on Saturday, May 14. Lakeland will meet a Eagles squad coming off a 20-6 non-league loss to Pioneer (Royal Center, IN). The Eagles record now stands at 4-10.
Game Summary
The Bremen Girls Softball team was able to get off to a good start scoring 6 runs in the first two frames of the first game. After two hits from Mickie Shively & Elia Foster, Chrissy Grabowski singled to score Shively. Katie Moyer then drove a pitch over the center field fence for a 3-run home run. After an Avery Wildauer walk, Shively then tripled & Jaylin Swint added a suicide squeeze scoring Shivley. Lakeland then picked up 3 runs in the 5th on home runs from Parham & Keck. Another home run from Moore closed the gap to 6-4.The Lions added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th after double from Wildauer, Shively hit a no doubter over the CF fence. Lakeland added two more in the seventh, but it was not enough.
Shively had 3 hits & 3RBI, Moyer had a pair of hits & 3 RBI.
