Berea Pirates (Berea, KY) supporters left the game thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Powell County Pirates (Stanton, KY), 2-1 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Berea improves its record to 12-11 on the year. The Pirates host Madison Southern (Berea, KY) to play the Eagles in a District 44 game on Monday, May 19. The Eagles enter the game with a record of 12-13. Madison Southern lost 10-3 in their recent non-league game against South Laurel (London, KY)

The Pirates now hold a 13-13 record. They play next when they host Lee County for a District 56 game on Saturday, May 17. Powell County will play a Bobcats squad coming off a 8-0 non-league win over Morgan County (West Liberty, KY). The Bobcats record now stands at 8-12.
