Indiana High School Softball - Knox edged by Bremen
May 17, 2023: Knox, IN 46534 In Wednesday's non-league outing, the visiting Bremen Lions softball team scored a close 6-5 win over the Knox Redskins.
Coming up next, the Lions battle the East Noble Knights (Kendallville, IN) in a non-league outing, on Thursday, May 18. Bremen will attempt to upgrade on its 11-11 season record. The Knights enter the outing with a 13-9 record after their 10-8 non-league win over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (Fort Wayne, IN).
The Redskins (16-9) will now prepare for their outing against Morgan Township (Valparaiso, IN). The Cherokees enter the non-league outing with a 16-6 record. In their last outing, Morgan Township tipped Michigan City (Michigan City, IN), 12-2, in a non-league outing.
Game Summary
The Bremen Girls softball team had a great 6-5 comeback at Knox on Wednesday night. After scoring in the first, the Lions fell behind 5-1 after the Redskins notched 5 hits, a walk & Lion error in the bottom of the 3rd. The comeback started in the 5th after Mickie Shively singled & Eliana Grubbs homered on a 3-2 count. Peyton Mason who started the game from the circle doubled in the top of the 6th, then Isabella Calentine scored on a wild pitch. Makenzie Shumaker lead off with an infield single, Shively walked, Grubbs flew out deep to centerfield, allowing Shumaker to advance to 3rd. Lainey Neher singled, scoring the tying run, the Chrissy Grabowski singled in Shively. After a Redskin lead-off walk in the 7th, and a stolen base, the Lions got a ground out advancing the tying run to 3rd. Redskin hitter McCarty then flew out to shallow right field allowing Katie Moyer to throw a strike to Jimenez at home applying the tag in plenty of time to end the game.
