Virginia High School Softball - Mathews drops to Gloucester
May 19, 2025: Mathews, VA 23109 Gloucester Dukes (Gloucester, VA) supporters left the game thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad topple the host Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA), 11-0 in a non-league game.
With the triumph, Gloucester improves its record to 20-0 on the year. The Dukes travel to Woodside (Newport News, VA) to play the Wolverines in a Peninsula game on Tuesday, May 20. The Wolverines enter the game with a record of 4-13. Woodside lost 23-0 in their recent league game against Kecoughtan (Hampton, VA)
The Blue Devils now hold a 8-10 record. They play next when they travel to West Point for a Tidewater game on Wednesday, May 21. Mathews will play a Pointers squad coming off a 13-7 non-league win over Colonial Beach (Colonial Beach, VA). The Pointers record now stands at 12-7.
