Saugus Sachems (Saugus, MA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Melrose Red Raiders (Melrose, MA), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Sachems now own a 12-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Marblehead for a Northeast challenge on Friday, May 27. Saugus will battle a Magicians squad coming off a 16-4 league win over Salem (Salem, MA). The Magicians record now stands at 6-12.

With the loss, Melrose falls to 6-12 on the campaign. The Red raiders host Malden (Malden, MA) to battle the Golden Tornados in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 25. The Golden Tornados enter the challenge with a record of 10-9.
