New York High School Softball - Walt Whitman gets by Longwood
May 3, 2024: Huntington Station, NY 11746 The Walt Whitman Wildcats (Huntington Station, NY) softball nipped the visiting Longwood Lions (Middle Island, NY), 8-7 in Friday's non-league bout.
The Wildcats (6-8) will now prepare for their bout against William Floyd (Mastic Beach, NY). The Colonials go into the non-league bout with a 8-9 record. In their last bout, William Floyd was edged by Riverhead (Riverhead, NY), 12-0, in a league bout.
The Lions now possess a 1-8 record. They play next when they travel to Sachem East for a Section 11 AA-1 bout on Thursday, May 9. Longwood will confront a squad coming off a 4-2 league win over Brentwood (Brentwood, NY). The record now stands at 14-4.
