Indiana High School Softball - Penn holds off Bremen
May 4, 2022: Bremen, IN 46506 Spectators at Wednesday's league match between the Penn Kingsmen (Mishawaka, IN) and the host Bremen Lions (Bremen, IN), witnessed Penn's softball squad tip Bremen by a count of 8-6.
The Kingsmen now sport a 11-6 record. They play next when they host South Bend Washington for a Northern Indiana match on Thursday, May 5. Penn will face a Panthers squad coming off a 8-3 league loss to Glenn (Walkerton, IN). The Panthers record now stands at 2-7.
With the loss, Bremen moves to 8-6 on the season. The Lions travel to Pioneer (Royal Center, IN) to face the Panthers in a non-league match on Saturday, May 7. The Panthers go into the match with a record of 15-1.
Game Summary
After trailing 5-0 after two innings, the Bremen Girls Softball team finally got their bats going in the bottom of the 4th scroing 3 runs. After shutting down the Kingsmen in the 5th Katie Moyer launched a 3-run home run to give the Lions the lead. Penn bounced back with a run to tie it in the 6th & added a 2-run home run by Hinton to cap their own comeback to win 8-6. Chrissy Grabowski scattered 11 hits striking out 5 suffered the loss. At the plate Chrissy had a double. Gretchen Willis had a single & double.
