The Westwood Patriots softball team scored 14 runs and limited the visiting Ishpeming Hematites to 13 in the Patriots non-league triumph on Wednesday.

With the triumph, Westwood moves its record to 2-7 on the year. The Patriots host Superior Central (Eben Junction, MI) to clash with the Cougars in a non-league game on Thursday, May 9. The Cougars come into the game with a record of 4-1.

In their next game, the Hematites clash with the Hancock Bulldogs (Hancock, MI) in a Western Peninsula test, on Thursday, May 9. Ishpeming will attempt to improve on its 10-4 season record. The Bulldogs enter the test with a 10-0 record after their 7-6 league win over Calumet (Calumet, MI).
