Iowa High School Softball - Sumner-Fredericksburg bounces Waverly-Shell Rock
June 13, 2024: Waverly, IA 50677 Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougars (Sumner, IA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks (Waverly, IA), 5-0 in a non-league challenge.
The Cougars now own a 18-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Jesup for a North Iowa Cedar - East challenge on Monday, June 17. Sumner-Fredericksburg will battle a J-Hawks squad coming off a 10-6 league loss to Wapsie Valley (Fairbank, IA). The J-Hawks record now stands at 13-5.
With the loss, Waverly-Shell Rock falls to 9-5 on the campaign. The Go-hawks host New Hampton (New Hampton, IA) to battle the Chickasaws in a Northeast Iowa challenge on Friday, June 14. The Chickasaws enter the challenge with a record of 5-4. New Hampton lost 6-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Crestwood (Cresco, IA)
