June 2, 2025: Mt. Vernon, IA 52314 Grinnell Tigers (Grinnell, IA) backers left the game pleased Monday as they saw their softball squad nudge the host Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA), 4-1 in a non-league game.
With the triumph, Grinnell upgrades its record to 7-0 on the year. The Tigers host South Tama County (Tama, IA) to play the Trojans in a WaMaC-West game on Wednesday, June 4. The Trojans enter the game with a record of 0-4. South Tama County lost 20-0 in their recent non-league game against Marion (Marion, IA)
The Mustangs now own a 3-2 record. They play next when they travel to Lisbon for a non-league game on Tuesday, June 3. Mt. Vernon will play a Lions squad coming off a 15-7 league win over Calamus-Wheatland (Wheatland, IA). The Lions record now stands at 4-1.
