The Hempfield Area Spartans (Greensburg, PA) softball nipped the visiting State College Little Lions (State College, PA), 2-1 in Monday's non-league outing.

The Spartans now sport a 24-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Chambersburg for a non-league outing on Thursday, June 5. Hempfield Area will encounter a Trojans team coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Avon Grove (West Grove, PA). The Trojans record now stands at 20-4.

With the loss, State College moves to 11-9 on the season.
