Akron-Westfield Westerners (Akron, IA) fans left the game pleased Thursday as they observed their baseball squad achieve victory over the host Gehlen Catholic Jays (Le Mars, IA), 15-5 in a league match.

With the triumph, Akron-Westfield advances its record to 15-9 on the season. The Westerners host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (Hartley, IA) to battle the Hawks in a War Eagle match on Saturday, July 5. The Hawks come into the match with a record of 0-16.

The Jays now have a 11-13 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Newell-Fonda for a non-league match on Thursday, July 3.
