In Friday's non-league challenge, the host Northwest Rankin Cougars volleyball team scored a close 2-1 victory over the East Central Hornets.

The Cougars (2-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Riverside (Avon, MS). The Bulldogs enter the non-league challenge with a 0-0 record.

Next, the Hornets meet the Pass Christian Pirates (Pass Christian, MS) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, August 1. East Central will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record.
