August 15, 2024: Waynesboro, GA 30830 Edmund Burke Academy Spartans (Waynesboro, GA) backers left the game pleased Thursday as they saw their softball squad nudge the visiting Gatewood Gators (Eatonton, GA), 8-1 in a league game.
With the triumph, Edmund Burke Academy upgrades its record to 4-0 on the year. The Spartans travel to Briarwood Academy (Warrenton, GA) to play the Buccaneers in a GIAA Class A & AA District 4 game on Tuesday, August 20. The Buccaneers enter the game with a record of 2-3. Briarwood Academy lost 14-6 in their recent non-league game against Greenbrier (Evans, GA)
The Gators now own a 1-5 record. They play next when they host First Presbyterian Day for a non-league game on Monday, August 19. Gatewood will play a Vikings squad coming off a 9-1 non-league win over Bulloch Academy (Statesboro, GA). The Vikings record now stands at 6-0.
