Fans at Friday's non-league contest between the New Covenant Gryphons (Lynchburg, VA) and the host Blue Ridge Christian Bears (Bridgewater, VA), observed New Covenant's volleyball team hold off Blue Ridge Christian by a count of 3-2.

The Gryphons (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against North Cross (Roanoke, VA). The Raiders enter the VISAA Division 3 contest with a 0-1 record. In their last contest, North Cross was tipped by Christian Heritage Academy (Rocky Mount, VA), 3-2, in a non-league contest.

Next, the Bears battle the Cornerstone Christian Cougars (Rockingham, VA) in a contest, on Tuesday, August 27. Blue Ridge Christian will attempt to move on its 0-1 season record.
