Smithfield-Selma Spartans (Smithfield, NC) boosters left the game thrilled Thursday as they saw their volleyball squad achieve victory over the visiting Southern Wayne Saints (Dudley, NC), 3-0 in a non-league test.

With the win, Smithfield-Selma improves its record to 1-5 on the season. The Spartans host Eastern Wayne (Goldsboro, NC) to play the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Monday, August 25. The Warriors come into the challenge with a record of 0-1.

Next, the Saints play the Goldsboro Cougars (Goldsboro, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, August 23. Southern Wayne will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 1-3 record after their 3-1 league loss to Rosewood (Goldsboro, NC).
