In Saturday's non-league challenge, the host Lamar Consolidated Mustangs volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Carnegie Vanguard Rhinos.

The Mustangs (6-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Needville (Needville, TX). The Bluejays come into the non-league challenge with a 7-9 record. In their last challenge, Needville was nudged by Episcopal (Bellaire, TX), 3-1, in a non-league challenge.
