August 26, 2022: Carrollton, TX 75006 The MacArthur Cardinals (Irving, TX) volleyball overcame the host Turner Lions (Carrollton, TX), 2-0 in Friday's non-league outing.
With the win, MacArthur upgrades its record to 1-9 on the year. The Cardinals host Irving (Irving, TX) to play the Tigers in a 6A Region I District 7 outing on Saturday, August 27. The Tigers go into the outing with a record of 2-8. Irving won 2-0 in their recent non-league outing against Turner (Carrollton, TX)
The Lions now own a 0-6 record. They play next when they travel to Lake Dallas for a non-league outing on Friday, August 26. Turner will play a Falcons squad coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Mansfield Legacy (Mansfield, TX). The Falcons record now stands at 4-7.
Match Summary
In day one of the tournament, the Lady Lions started out rough, missing 4 starters to CC, but the remaining 7 fought to learn new positions and rotations, while battling other challenges. They fell to a very strong Lake Dallas 2-25 but coming back to fight for a loss of 14-25 showing great improvement. Next they took on Irving Nimitz, starting the first set short players still. They really came together defensively though, keeping the ball in play, but struggling with all 6 constantly getting into defensive positions and losing energy playing all the way around, falling to Nimitz 14-25. Our 4 starters made it for the 2nd set, bringing some new energy. Defense was great, hits were on target, but we still had some holes in the defense, falling 20-25. In the 3rd game, against Irving, Turner looked they were ready to play. They came out blazing, with beautiful defense and great teamwork, winning the first set 25-21.
