In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Bridge City Cardinals football squad scored a decisive 46-14 victory over the Buna Cougars.

The Cardinals (1-0) will now prepare for their battle against Kirbyville (Kirbyville, TX). The Wildcats go into the non-league battle with a 0-1 record. In their last battle, Kirbyville was crushed by Shepherd (Shepherd, TX), 38-21, in a non-league battle.

The Cougars now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they travel to Brazos for a non-league battle on Friday, September 5. Buna will play a Cougars team coming off a 54-6 non-league win over Hempstead (Hempstead, TX). The Cougars record now stands at 1-0.
