The Burwell Longhorns walloped the host Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack football team by a score of 47-12 in Friday's non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Longhorns face the St. Mary's Cardinals (O'Neill, NE) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, September 5. Burwell will attempt to improve on its 1-0 season record. The Cardinals go into the challenge with a 1-0 record after their 18-13 non-league win over Twin Loup (Sargent, NE).

The Wolfpack (0-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Walthill (Walthill, NE). The Blujays go into the non-league test with a 0-1 record. In their last test, Walthill was overwhelmed by Cedar Bluffs (Cedar Bluffs, NE), 52-14, in a non-league challenge.
