In Saturday's non-league challenge, the visiting Monte Vista Monarchs volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Hoover Cardinals.

The Monarchs (4-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Valhalla (El Cajon, CA). The Norsemen come into the non-league challenge with a 3-6 record. In their last challenge, Valhalla was nudged by Patrick Henry (San Diego, CA), 3-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Cardinals play the El Cajon Valley Braves (El Cajon, CA) in a non-league test, on Wednesday, September 3. Hoover will attempt to advance on its 3-6 season record. The Braves go into the test with a 2-4 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Crawford (San Diego, CA).
