The Minersville Battlin' Miners (Minersville, PA) football edged the host Marian Catholic (Tamaqua, PA), 41-39 in Friday's non-league bout.

In their next game, the Battlin' Miners face the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils (Shenandoah, PA) in a Colonial-Schuylkill - Blue bout, on Thursday, September 7. Minersville will attempt to advance on its 2-0 season record. The Blue Devils enter the bout with a 1-1 record after their 43-12 non-league loss to Upper Dauphin Area (Elizabethville, PA).
