Illinois High School Volleyball - Beecher can't get by Wilmington
September 10, 2025: Beecher, IL 60401 Wilmington Wildcats (Wilmington, IL) boosters left the game satisfied Wednesday as they saw their volleyball squad edge the host Beecher Bobcats (Beecher, IL), 2-1 in a non-league test.
With the win, Wilmington improves its record to 8-2 on the season. The Wildcats travel to Lisle (Lisle, IL) to face the Lions in a Illinois Central Eight test on Thursday, September 11. The Lions go into the test with a record of 2-6. Lisle lost 2-0 in their recent league test against Peotone (Peotone, IL)
The Bobcats now own a 1-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Illinois Lutheran for a River Valley test on Thursday, September 11. Beecher will meet a Chargers team coming off a 2-0 league loss to Tri-Point (Cullom, IL). The Chargers record now stands at 1-8.

The Varsity Lady Cats bounced back after losing to Manteno on Tuesday to beat Beecher on Wednesday 23-25, 25-19, 25-17. Coach Van Duyne said, "Tuesday was a tough game mentally and physically so to bounce back against a good team like Beecher, I was very happy with the win. It is showing these girls are resilient and not a team to take lightly." Libero Sami Liaromatis had another excellent game with 22 digs to lead her team to victory. Van Duyne, "Sami has been almost impossible to stop in the back row since she has taken over as the libero. Her serve receive is almost spot on every time and her defense speaks for itself." Rachel Smith led offensively at the net with 10 kills and 4 blocks to go with her 13 digs and 3 aces in the backrow. The setters Molly Southall (18 asst.) and Ashlyn Warriner (11 asst.) have been mixing up the offense and giving everyone a chance to show what they have. Aly Allgood, Makenzie Rodriguez, Melia Hincherick and Southall all had 5 kills each.
