In Friday's non-league match, the host Northwest Rankin Cougars football squad scored a close 28-21 victory over the Madison Central Jaguars.

In their next game, the Cougars clash with the Pearl Pirates (Pearl, MS) in a 7A Region 3 match, on Monday, September 18. Northwest Rankin will attempt to move on its 3-1 season record. The Pirates enter the match with a 4-0 record after their 45-7 non-league win over Ridgeland (Ridgeland, MS).
