September 19, 2024: Mobile, AL 36693 In Thursday's non-league match, the Pensacola Area Homeschool Phoenix (Pensacola, FL) volleyball squad overcame the host Government Street Christian (Mobile, AL), by a count of 3-0.
Next up, the Phoenix battle the L.E.A.D. Academy Lions (Pace, FL) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 20. Pensacola Area Homeschool will attempt to move on its 5-7 season record. The Lions enter the match with a 0-9 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Rocky Bayou Christian (Niceville, FL).
Match Summary
On "Player Choice Player of the Game Night" it was our Varsity team facing off first against the Lady Chargers. We played a different format, with no substitutions, keeping the team captain and the setter in all three sets, with 4 of the other 8 active Varsity players changing out in each set. This gave them a chance to play all the way around the court with no interruption and to showcase their talent for the voters! And showcase they did! They divided up the kills quite evenly and served high percentage with plenty of aces. Quite telling of our progress this season was the fact that this was our first game of the season in which we returned every serve without any mistakes! The Phoenix delivered a resounding victory in this rematch, taming the Lady Chargers to 10 fewer points than in their first meeting.
