In Friday's league game, the Gateway Gators (Monroeville, PA) football team edged the host Franklin Regional Panthers (Murrysville, PA), by a tally of 33-28.

In their next game, the Gators battle the Armstrong River Hawks (Kittanning, PA) in a WPIAL AAAAA Big East game, on Friday, September 26. Gateway will attempt to better on its 2-3 season record. The River Hawks go into the bout with a 2-3 record after their 17-14 league win over Greater Latrobe (Latrobe, PA).
