In Thursday's league challenge, the visiting Martin County Gators volleyball team scored a 3-1 triumph over the Hertford County Bears.

The Gators (9-4) will now prepare for their challenge against First Flight (Kill Devil Hills, NC). The Nighthawks come into the Northeastern Coastal 3A/4A/5A test with a 8-10 record. In their last test, First Flight went down by Currituck County (Barco, NC), 3-2, in a league test.

The Bears now sport a 4-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Pasquotank County for a Northeastern Coastal 3A/4A/5A test on Tuesday, September 30.
